The Enterprises Worldwide Present...

MEGARAMPAGE

Over 9 storeys high, as long as a football field, & the biggest action sport structure in the world today.

The Megaramp...

Revered by every skater and bmx rider in the world.

And it's coming to Melbourne.

THE BIGGEST AND THE FIRST ACTION SPORTS & MUSIC SPECTACULAR IN AUSTRALIA OCTOBER 31, 2009 @ ETIHAD STADIUM, MELBOURNE

After months of whispers and rumours, it's now official. The Megaramp is coming to Australia!

On the 31st of October, exclusive to Melbourne comes the MASSIVE inaugural extreme sports spectacular, Megarampage, which will welcome the largest ramp the southern hemisphere has ever seen and some of the world's best skaters and BMX riders - the gladiators of the 2000's.

As if that wasn't enough, playing live are THE OFFSPriNG, GOOD CHARLOTTE, THE WU TANG CLAN and KELLEY JAMES who will be making their way from the US of A to bring in this colossal event alongside Australia's COG, MAMMAL and SHAMAN SON.

Etihad Stadium will barely be able to contain the absolute magnitude that is Megaramp, which takes four labour-intensive days to build; the treacherous ramp is over nine storeys high, nearly reaching the top of the stadium, and covers over 12 acres of ground.

The riders attempt ‘Big Air' where they go for amplitudes of over 20 to 30 feet in the air, over and above the height of the ramp. We are not talking about some dinky vert ramp - you do not want to fall from this monster!

There are only 14 guys in the world who can skate the beast known as the Megaramp, and they will all be in Melbourne for Megarampage.

World-famous pro-skaters confirmed for MEGARAMPAGE, in the insane pursuit of first prize include this year's winner of the first-ever Big Air Rail Jam at X Games in LA, America's Danny Way and second place winner, Brazil's Bob Burnquist. Braving the terrifying Megaramp again is Australia's true ironman, Jake Brown, who walked away from a 15m fall in 2007 and continues to conquer the mighty

Also confirmed are Buster Halterman, Rob Lorifice, Andy Macdonald, Adam Taylor and Alex Perelson from the States, Lincoln Ueda and Vovo from Brazil and rumoured appearances from Ryan Sheckler (USA) and Jake Duncombe (AUS). Judging the event are American skate legends Christian Hosoi, Chris Miller, Steve Caballero, Lance Mountain and Rune Glifberg. HUGE!

As for the BMX riders, confirmed are American champs Morgan Wade, Kevin Robinson, Anthony Napolitan, Allan Cooke, Dave Mirra and Chad Kagy, and reppin' Australia is Steve McCann, with judges to be decided in conjunction with Mat Hoffman.

Watch the pros in action WHILE LISTENING TO MUSIC HEAVYWEIGHTS FROM THE US AND AUSTRALIA this October the 31st at MEGARAMPAGE, at Etihad Stadium (nee Telstra Dome). Don't miss out!

UPDATE

Due to the current wet weather, we have had to postpone this weekends opening round of the CORE Series 2009 at the Albany Creek Skate Park.

The Series will now commence on Sunday 7th of June – exactly two weeks after the original date of Sunday 24th of May.

All event details will remain the same and registrations will open at 9:00am, with the competitions starting from 10:00am.

Media Release -

In 2009 the CORE Series will be coming to South East QLD again!  The CORE Series is the largest BMX Competition Series in QLD and also features an Open Skateboarding Competition.

The highly anticipated opening round of the CORE Series will be on Sunday 24th of May at the Albany Creek Skate Park.  The first round of the CORE Series is proudly sponsored by Moreton Bay Regional Council and will be part of the 2009 Pine Rivers Festival.

BMX Riders from all across southeast QLD are expected to attend to compete in the We The People BMX Championship.  The overall series winner will walk away with $500 cash thanks to We The People Bikes, Forgotten Bikes, Subrosa and Ride On BMX Shop.

Last years winner, Nick Cooper, and last years runner up, Alex Hiam, will be among those competing for the title when the Series gets under way.  Although Nick will start the series as the deserving favourite, many people will have their eyes on the youngster, Alex.  At only 13 years of age, he will be the youngest competitor ever in the Pro category, and after his performances at the BMX Games earlier this year, he has a very good chance to go one better this year and take the title of CORE Series Champion.

“That kid is just amazing, he was only a few points behind me last year and he just keeps getting better – he is going to be the biggest threat for sure,” Nick said when asked about his youngest rival.

In the Open Skate competition, there will be some more promising youngsters on show in the McPaddens.  Last year the two boys, Dylan and Jacob, were rarely out of the top three in the junior levels, but now will be competing in the Open Class.  When asked about how they would go against the older competitors Carol McPadden (the boys mother) said “I can’t see them being too worried – they have skated with some older guys before and it only helps them get better.”

With all the exciting competitors on display across both sports, the CORE Series is bound to be the years most exciting Extreme Sports Competitions.  There are also plenty of giveaways for the crowd to make sure everyone has a great day out!

The CORE Series will have two more rounds for competitors to test their skills at before a Series Champion is announced.  These dates will be announced as soon as possible.

This Event is Proudly Sponsored by:

Sunday the 21st of December saw the 4th annual DK King of Dirt BMX Competition take place at Pine Rivers Park. The competition attracted riders from all over Australia to compete on some of the best dirt jumps in the country and they certainly did not disappoint those who turned up to cheer them on!

In the Beginner class we witnessed some of the future stars of Australian BMX riding the big jumps and doing tricks that would have only been seen in the Pro class a few years ago. It was also refreshing to see some riders on Hard Tail Mountain Bikes competing and matching it with the BMXers. In the end, Ben Richardson won the day with some clean runs featuring Supermans and 360s. Chris Stalhart (riding the MTB) came 2nd, and Jake May came 3rd after putting it all on the line to try and take the top spot.

The expert class has again stepped up from previous years – with riders bringing out a whole range of Flip variations and big Whip tricks. While all riders in the class proved that they aren’t far off the Pro Ranks, Luke Bowerman and Matt Mackellar were the stand outs. Luke and Matt were neck and neck all through the competition, with Matt only just edging Luke out for the win. Matt put together a clean final run to put all the pressure on Luke to produce something big, who, unfortunately, just couldn’t land his last jump – giving Matt the victory.

In the Pro Class, we saw many riders returning from previous years and some newcomers to the event. Regardless of whether they had ridden here before, all riders showed the crowd why Australian BMXers are among the best in the world. In the end, reigning champion, Jai Toohey, was not going to be denied back to back victories despite the best efforts on Nick Cooper (2007 runner up) and Cam Pianta who made up the top 3.

It was with a strange sense of Déjà vu that Jai qualified 1st for the final and proceeded to produce the best run of the day straight away. After Jai’s first run, everyone else knew what they had to do to win – and everyone gave it everything they had, however none could match the youngster from the Central Coast. Just as it was in 2007, Jai’s last run was basically a victory lap.

If anyone would like access to other event footage, please contact us to arrange this. You can also see the video, all results and photos from the day on the Myspace: www.myspace.com/KingofDirtBMX
