Media Release 03/07/2009

The second round of the 2009 CORE Series will be at Redcliffe City Skate Park on Sunday 26 July 2009 thanks to the Redcliffe Area Youth Service, the Department of Communities’ YACCA (Youth Crime Prevention) Program & Moreton Bay Regional Council.

Mr Jarryd Williams (RAYS Manager) said he’s thrilled to have the CORE Series return to Redcliffe.

“We have a great group of local riders and skaters who are excited about CORE’s return, and we’re all looking forward to watching some of the best talent from around QLD doing their thing at the skate park,” Mr Williams said.

The Redcliffe City Skate Park, in Humpybong Park (Cnr of Oxley Avenue & Anzac Avenue) was one of the parks in the original CORE Series in 2005. It has also been the home to some of Australia biggest name BMXers over the years, and all the locals are looking forward to showcasing their skills.

After all the action of the opening round at the Albany Creek Skate Park, this will be an extremely tight competition and the CORE Series Championships will be closer than ever. The competitors are closely matched, which will result in the new park acting as a variant that will prove to be a decisive factor in the final results.

The event will give Redcliffe locals the opportunity to see a selection of Australia’s best BMXers & Skaters putting everything on the line for the CORE Series Championship Points.

The event will kick off at 9:00am the will include:

  • The Forgotten Bikes Beginner BMX Competition,
  • The Subrosa Bikes Expert BMX Competition,
  • The CORE Open Skate Competition and The We The People Bikes PRO BMX Competition.

We will also have a special SCOOTER competition for all the youngsters keen to get crazy on 2-wheels!

All competitors must enter on the day, but should check out the Myspace prior to the event for all the entry details. Event times to be announced closer to the date. The current CORE Series 2009 Webisode, from the opening round at Albany Creek is now online for viewing at www.skuff.tv, on the CORE Operations Sports Channel.
