Changes to the site

For those of you that didn't recieve the newsletter I sent out to all the members, here is a run down of the recent changes to website.

• The layout of every section has been revamped in some way.
• All new home page with latest video, photo and the last 3 items for each section.
• The forums are now categorised with a new more "traditional" layout.
• Previous and next links for each section.
• Remember me checkbox added to the login so you don't have to login everytime you come to the site.
• Comments appear under the item details.
• You can now have multiple bike checks.
• The video player is now bigger so you can submit higher quality videos.
• Related items appear in the details view. For example if you view a video you will see a list of other videos from the same member.
• Most sections will tell you how many times an item has been viewed.
• The "friends" system has been replaced by stalking. Basically when your stalking someone you will get an email whenever that person adds something new to the site.
• You can now be notified when someone comments on your submissions.
• Your favs now appear in your profile (just under the music player).
• The profiles page show the top 10 members (based on number of submissions and item views).
• Update added quote buttons to the forums

Thanks to the people that sent in suggestions, if you have any other suggestions for improving the site let me know.

In the mean time hit up the site, submit something, comment, use the bloody forums and please I beg you get the word out and tell your friends. The site will hit it's 10th birthday next year and I don't want to shut it down now because people can't be arsed.

Heavy Metal Heroes videos posted

As you can see I've posted up some of the old HMH videos from back in the day..well..3 years ago. I made about 47 of them over the years but I've only posted the pro events for now. If you have a fav HMH vid from the expert and beginner classes let me know and I'll put it up.

Now it's your turn to post some videos, remember they don't need to be brilliant as long as their yours.

If you've already posted a video on Youtube or Vimeo you can always make a blog post in your profile and embed the video there using the little embed video icon or just link to it.

Minor updates and tweaks

Made a few minor tweaks to the site today -

• The navigation in your profile pages should now show you how many blog posts, photos, videos, and messages you have.
• When you get a private message you will now see a light blue bar appear at the top of your page telling you that you have received a message.
• Added a help video about using the shortcuts panel with favs, subscribing and messaging
• Fixed video buffering issue so the videos should tell you how much has downloaded now. Also added a watermark that matches the photos
• Removed the "Display only in my profile" option from bike checks (only necessary for photos and videos really)
• Removed the ability to change your profile name (so make sure you sign up with the correct name to start with) because changing your name just orphans anything you've already submitted.
• Rearranged the home page a little.

Welcome to the all new freestyle BMX website!

After 6 months of downtime the site is back in full force and hopefully you'll find it's a major improvement on all previous versions.

Unfortunately Beta testing didn't quite work out as planned because everyone insists on using hotmail emails and hotmail doesn't like it when you try to send them 100 emails at once. Out of the 50 that did send out most of them bounced back with mailbox unavailable.

So bugger testing, lets just hope everything works aye?

I did try to sent out notification to everyone that added their email on the home page but that didn't work either so if your reading this, get the word out.

You can now add/modify/delete content and comments without having to wait for me to approve it. The only exception is videos as I have to encode them in FLASH, grab the thumbnail resize etc. Submitted videos should be up within 10 minutes no longer than 24hrs.

Be sure to send me your feedback and suggestions via email, contact page or you can message me by clicking that send PM button on the right.

Check the help page every now and then as I'll add more helpful tips.

I think that's it for now, thanks go out to all of you for your previous and on going support, this site wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for you guys, have fun and enjoy the new site.
